This is one of my favorite low-key winter hikes! Pretty, not too strenuous, and holds up well in the rain.
Arrived at 9:15 on a dry Saturday to around 15 cars in the parking lot. On our return at 1 the main lot was almost full and the side lot had some cars in it.
Overall the trail is in good condition, but the trail is wet and muddy in places. If you're prone to slipping, poles might be a good idea. Your shoes will get wet! Please preserve the trail by going through the water, not around it. The two big water crossing could be navigated by careful rock hopping, but at 2 miles there's a giant puddle 6" deep that you have to go through. I had to walk on tiptoes so that it didn't overtop my waterproof socks! WTA - this would be a great place for some trail maintenance :). There are 3 blowdowns but all pretty easy to go over. Had lunch at the River Trail split and headed home. Lots of fun mushrooms out!
Perfect hike for a mellow day!
