Trip Report

Duckabush River — Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021

Olympic Peninsula > Hood Canal

Took advantage of the rain break to fit in a hike this weekend and the Duckabush river trail did not disappoint! As other trip reports mentioned the road had some pot holes but no worse than other forest roads. The trail was in great condition even with all the heavy rains.  It was amazing to wash the rushing Duckabush and see all the waterfalls small and large. There were numerous creek crossings on the trail but nothing more dangerous than wet boots and our dog was able to just walk through them. This was a great shoulder season hike and will definitely be coming back in the summer for a longer backpacking trip. We ate lunch at 5 mile camp and then turned around for the day. Passed about 3 parties in total. According to my watch it 10.56 miles with total gain of 2.7k feet.
