Tried getting to Lena lake but I wasn’t comfortable with the road. So I opted for an accessible hike- mount Walker. I used micro spikes and was glad I had them. The road to the trail is ice. Once you get to the trail it’s melted for a quarter mile with intermittent patches. I’d say 3/4 of the trail is snow. I kept my spikes on the whole time. It’s deeper at the top! walking toward the south viewpoint I wish I had my snowshoes. I post holed most of the way to the south viewpoint. For a crowded trail I had a wonderful time and enjoyed myself. Please don’t park on the side of the roads and block the view to the main highway. If there’s no parking I would park further down so cars leaving the gate area can see oncoming traffic.
