Hiked this to see the sunrise! It was well worth the 5:30 AM start. The last mile kicked our butts as we had to wear traction and the uphill climb (we were running because it was already 7 and didn’t wanna miss the sky changing colors). Since the trail was in the dark most the way, all we had to focus on was what was ahead and it’s nice that this trail is well marked! Highly recommend some kind of traction. All snow was hard packed so no post-holing issues. My dog had no issue with navigating over obstacles (large dog).

Would you say spikes are just fine or snow shoes are also required in some areas?
