Gold Creek Pond Snowshoe — Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022

Snoqualmie Region > Snoqualmie Pass

Check out my video recap linked below!

This snowshoe was around Gold Creek Pond off of I-90 near the top of Snoqualmie Pass. My dad and I rented MSR EVO snowshoes from REI, which is a great option if you are looking to test out a pair or just get into the sport.

We arrived around noon and the road to the trailhead was packed with cars. On top of that, the road isn't maintained in the winter, so many cars were getting stuck trying to turn around once they realized the situation. Unless the road looks clear or you are very confident in your driving and vehicle's abilities to handle winter roads, I'd recommend looking for a safer, legal spot to park and snowshoe your way to the trailhead and save yourself a lot of stress. If you do park far away from the trailhead, it does add a fair amount of time and distance to your route. Check out the video showing the maps, or look at my AllTrails link below. The distance is flat and very doable, it just adds a lot of extra time that we weren't anticipating.

The lake isn't too far from the trailhead and is well marked. It is such a popular trail that you could possibly stay on the main trail and not need snowshoes, but having snowshoes allows you to explore all around, and you'll want to, because it is quite beautiful! Pack a lunch and something warm to drink, find a secluded spot, and enjoy your time at Gold Creek Pond!
