Took a drive out to MSH and found the Coldwater south trailhead totally empty. We arrived ~11a and we're climbing up the ridge by 1130. Trail is in good condition, only a few trees to climb over but lots of new whips growing into the trail. Lots of trail markers to help navigate. We stopped to check out the destroyed logging equipment then pressed on, the trail east of the dozer mostly follows what looks like an old logging road grade. There are some areas of snow to cross where the road stays in the shade on the north side of the ridge, but nothing steep or difficult. We stopped for lunch and decided not to climb higher up to the ridge campsites, the mountain was behind the clouds and I didn't think the views would be any better another 4 or 500' higher. Of course when we headed back down the clouds cleared :)
Round trip was ~6 miles and 1600' of climbing.
