We parked at the trailhead at the gatehouse on HWY 7. There were enough spaces for about 5 cars total.
Port-a-potty is now located up the road 1/4 mile at the conference center parking.
The trail from the TH to Hugo Peak is 2.5 miles, well marked and a steady climb of of rock and mud. Once at Hugo Peak you can either walk the road or take the trail parallel. There is a lookout .15 to see the town of Eatonville.
We opted to walk to Kirkland Pass then take the 2000 Rd. Loop counter clockwise to a viewpoint of Rainier. This loop added 3.1 miles but the view was worth it.
We returned down Hugo Peak trail for a total of 8 miles round trip and 1500' elevation gain.
Gorgeous day in the PNW!
