My companion, Paula Cox and I, sauntered up to the lake. Trip registered 4.8mi. RT. Weather was partly sunny but with early morning clouds. No rain. Trail head well marked off Chuckanut Drive opposite the Larrabee State Park campground entrance. Restrooms were open with many camping. TH has warning sides of high theft area. None of the cars that morning were vandalized.
The trail was in excellent shape...no mud, water, or blowdowns. Moderate difficulty with over a 1000' elevation gain. Switchbacks mostly in beginning. You will realize how steep a few sections are esp. on your way down. Be careful with pine needles on the surface creating a slippery surface. We had our trekking poles with us to assist with stability. Overall nice hike.
