Wallace Falls - Lake Loop — Saturday, Jun. 11, 2022

Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - West
Middle Wallace Falls

Beautiful day on the trail, even with intermittent rain showers. The falls, especially from the mid-falls viewpoint, were amazing, the fullest I’ve experienced. We started at 8:15 am, 15 min. after the gate opened. No problem parking at that time (but still a good 20 cars in the lot). The trail is well marked past the upper falls with metal triangles nailed to trees. At the crest (no more folks!) we headed to the lake along a logging road. Unfortunately, this time we didn’t make it to the lake due to excessive water on the road (a lake before the lake), and pivoted back to the road. The Greg Ball Trail (still no folks) is lovely with varied greens, light twinkling between trees and ferns, moss, a rain forest near home! Yes, there were loads of people once we hit the main trail again, but most everyone was smiling and enjoying the trek. Upon driving out, I was amazed to see how far folks walked from their cars to the TH. Park early!

Rainbow!
Lake-in-a-lake. Pivoted to road towards Greg Ball Trail.
Lush rainforest, gentle descent on Greg Ball Trail.
