Turtleback Mountain Preserve: Turtlehead Summit — Saturday, Jun. 11, 2022

Puget Sound and Islands > San Juan Islands

Hiked on a beautiful Saturday and only saw about 5 other groups. No horses even though it was open to equestrian use. The trail was steep as hell for the first 2 miles or so (or maybe it just felt that way to our legs, which had biked to the trailhead). At Waldron Overlook, take the middle of three options to head to the summit. It's not entirely obvious since it slopes downward at first and is the most narrow option, but this is where the trail becomes foot traffic only. The trail and small parking lot (although very steep) were in great condition. Great views from every lookout point.
