Got lucky with great weather on Mailbox today. Despite the forecast looking a bit gloomy, it was sunny and reasonably warm. Took the old trail up and down as usual. Muddy in spots, but decent condition overall. Found it was a bit tricky in places to follow the trail high up, before it intersects with new trail, due to multiple branches. Kept an eye out for the silver diamonds on trees and that always got me back to the right trail. Boulder field is snow free. There is a bit of patchy snow above that and then 100' of snow to the final summit. I was able to negotiate it without putting on my microspikes, though slipped a few times. Saw about 12 other people including a couple that were in progress of multiple laps. Impressive!
Stats: 5.5 miles, 4000' gain, 4:00 total time, 0:30 stopped time.
Gear: Waterproof boots, poles of which I used one for the upper ascent and then all the way down, spikes and gaiters that I never pulled out.
