It is a great time to hike this trail but maybe not this weekend as there is a scheduled trail run both days. Bear that in mind if this is on your list.
Arrived at 9:15 and had my choice of parking. Bathrooms at the trailhead had toilet paper.
This is not a long hike but it asks a good bit of you. Did not see nor hear and rattlesnakes, but there is a muddy area before the Aspen stand that would be where I’d watch for them the most as there is no water past that.
The big issue today was wind. Was at my back heading up, but it was tough to spend time at the top and descending into the wind was a chore. A shame because the views today were wonderful; could even make out Mt. Hood from the ridge.
Wildflowers are going. Balsamroot everywhere and some phlox. Lupines getting started. Looks like more I cannot identify will be popping soon. All the more reason to wait a few days and not deal with trail runners.
The last half mile up/first half mile down is very rude. A legit climb, but coming down is a tricky one with the sandy tread. Give it your respect.
