The trail is snow free until the Jasmine's Meadow area, and even then there was only one small patch of snow that actually covered the trail. I imagine that will be gone in a week or two. No special gear needed!
I counted 55 downed trees, which might sound like a lot, but most of them were pretty small, and none required much maneuvering to get over. I did run into an Olympic National Forest volunteer who asked me to count downed trees, so there may be some work done here soon.
Beautiful trail too - managed to get all the good views in before the cloud cover got too thick.
