Gooseberry Flat — Saturday, May. 11, 2024

hiked from Ice water Campground and then op to Gooseberry Flat. about 6 miles round trip. trail was fine and some forest flowers in bloom. saw a tiny orchid, anenome, trilium? etc. the larch are starting to leaf out. bright green. fairly uneventful but this area does get some trail motorcycles.
3 groups passed me. I would wave, step aside, and they would signal how many more were behind them in the group. except for the 11 year old boys who need to learn the etiquette.
no litter on the trails. no views. Just basically a walk in the dry Eastside forest.
kept the dog in a leash so he wouldn't disappear after deer.
I got to the trail head by going from CleElum to Peoh Point. walls of trillium were gorgeous. leaving I went out W Taneum Road. Arrowhead balsalmroot was blooming and the trees and spirea were all leaving out. gorgeous.
