Trip Report

Alger Alp (South Route) — Saturday, May. 11, 2024

Puget Sound and Islands > Bellingham Area

With road work on I5 making travel back from I90 or US2 obnoxious, this was a great little hike to do early in the morning. I got to the trailhead around 7:30, laced up and started the trek up. Not a lot of views on the way up, and one minute of confusion when there was a forest road intersection at the 1.6 miles that was marked as 1100, which the trail description said should be at .76 miles. After confirming with my GPS that I had in fact gone 1.6 miles, I stayed to the right and continued the trek up.

Great views from the top though! I had the trail to myself and the many many bugs on the way up, but traffic started to pick up on the way down. 90 minute round trip and a great way to start the morning.

Confusing forest road sign at 1.6 miles
Unmarked trailhead, but just slip around the gate and follow the road up!
