On the same day we hiked Umtanum Ridge Crest, we drove 35 minutes to Umtanum Creek Falls. This short hike is truly a hidden gem, a little paradise tucked in the high desert around Ellensburg.
The trail is very pretty, peaceful, and beautiful. The enchanting sounds of various birds and the water stream create a serene atmosphere. Most of the hike is shaded, providing a comfortable trek even on warmer days.
We spotted some interesting wildlife along the way, including a woodpecker and several hawks. The highlight of the hike is undoubtedly the waterfall, which is simply amazing.
At the end of the trail, on a hill, there are stones that appear to be carved or placed intentionally. Though I'm not certain about their origin, they are quite intriguing and add a unique touch to the hike.
Overall, Umtanum Creek Falls is a delightful, peaceful hike that offers both natural beauty and a bit of mystery. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area.
Happy hiking!
