Plan was a quick hike up to the saddle with a loop along the ridgeline and down to source lake, then back to the trailhead. Lots of people were out on the snow lake trail today. There were a few patches of snow along the way up, with more consistent snow starting just before reaching the saddle. Looks like a lot of snow still on the snow lake side of the trail, though I didn’t do the descent to the lake. I enjoyed the views of the lake for a bit and then continued along the ridge which was all snow covered. The descent toward source lake was tricky as I got close to the source lake trail due to post holing. There were great views of Chair Peak and The Tooth, and I could see two groups heading up the snowfield to Pineapple Pass. Following the source lake trail, there was still snow to cross, with thin snow bridges and postholing being an issue. I made it back to the main trail and continued to the trailhead as planned.
