Grand Park via Lake Eleanor — Saturday, Jun. 8, 2024

Mount Rainier Area > NE - Sunrise/White River
Grand Park - starting to melt

Road: FS 73 is snow free, though many potholes.

Trail: I was the only one at the trailhead at 10am and only ran into one person when I was headed back. I had some concerns about the stream crossing, as someone on AllTrails on June 6th mentioned they couldn't find the bridge across the stream past the first meadow, but I found it immediately. For the rest of the way, it's pretty consistent snow but there are footprints.

You do not need showshoes, but they would be useful at Grand Park as there are some water flows under snow that I got my feet wet in a few times. I was fine with gaiters.

Overall this is a great back way into the National Park!
