This was a beautiful trail through coastal forest down to a wild, rugged Pacific beach! Total stats for this short hike were 1.5 miles, 270 feet elevation gain (Add on an additional mile or two if you plan to walk along the beach).
Before we even stepped out of the car, we drove through the small town of La Push. I would highly recommend this, if only for the great views out to James Island. Then, we parked at the trailhead and began our hike. After crossing a bridge, one must climb up a short hill before beginning the descent to the beach. The trail utilizes stairs, which are functional but very steep.
Once we reached the beach, we spent some time exploring both north and south. It was high tide, which made exploring a bit more difficult. Still, seeing the large waves crash against the headlands was incredible. From where the trail meets the beach, a natural arch to the north is easily visible, as is large sea stacks farther off the coast.
Overall this was a great hike, well worth the detour on WA 110!
