Melakwa Lake — Monday, Jun. 10, 2024

We hiked up to the lake today and had the trail almost to ourselves.  Only came across one other hiker after crossing Denny Creek.  The creek crossing was a little rough, there is a small log you can cross over.  Water was rising on the return and the log wasn't far from the surface.  Trail was flooded in areas and there were some large snow drifts that had to be crossed.  We lost the trail a few times, but luckily we had the downloaded maps.  Poles would have been very useful.  Lake was starting to thaw out, but still 90% frozen over.  Lots of wildflowers along the trail and small waterfalls everywhere.
