The trail was in good condition with a few muddy spots, all creek crossings intact. As this was my first time hiking this trail, I have no basis for comparison but it was busy, far busier than I expected. The parking lot was full by 7:30, and by the time we left at 2:30, there were cars parked all the way down to the Eight Mile trailhead. We saw one group of three rangers on our descent in the afternoon and one couple hiking with a dog. The hikers with skis strapped to their back who were heading to Colchuck Glacier were awe-inspiring. The bugs were fine until you stopped to get anything out of your pack. Wildflowers were plentiful at the lower elevation.
