Bring long pants!! Trail going clockwise is overgrown and while the trail is always visible, the grass you end up wading through is often up to your armpits in height. I didn’t get a photo of these sections unfortunately. We turned around after we were a mile in because we were worried about ticks and hadn’t prepared properly. If you go counter clockwise, you reach the lake in just a few minutes and the trail to the lake is very wide and clear but not sure about beyond that.
Highly recommend going at sunrise for beautiful light on the hills, cool temperatures, and fewer bugs. After sunrise, there were a lot of mosquitos and constant swarms of tiny gnats, which was an annoyance.
Just as an FYI, there was also a sign at the parking lot saying that the area was closed over winter this year (until April 1) for wildlife restoration.
