Secured permit for backpack
Arrived at parking lot 11am, nearly full except for 3 spots. Lots holds 20+ cars.
Lovely shaded trail majority of the hike with elevation gain as you get closer to Royal Lake.
Established campsite located on west side of the lake, there is a trail that veers to the left but it mainly circumnavigates around the lake.
Dropped out packs at a site and continued up to the basin.
Minor creek crossing then snowfields that lead up to the upper tarn/lake which is nearly fully melted out.
