Absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous hike, views were totally unreal and the wildflowers were everywhere. Worth every second. We did it as a sunset hike and just pushed as fast as we could 6:00-9:30 so that's doable if you keep pace. The colors were insane.
A little bit of snow on the ridge, but passable with good shoes. Mosquitos were massive, incessant, and everywhere. If you have a head net- bring it and put on a ton of bug spray.
Counter-clockwise is the way to go, the little bit of snow is way easier on an ascent than descending. The last leg of the altitude loss going counter-clockwise is super steep switchbacks, I personally much prefer going down switchbacks than up them.
We saw so many marmots! I lost count after 10, and lots of pika as well! Remember to give them space and make noise after dark so you don't surprise other wildlife.
