It was a beautiful warm day and quite the color show of wildflowers. We hiked up afternoon and got back down in the evening. Flies were out and a few mosquitoes joined the party after the sun went behind the mountain. A slight breeze most of the trip helped. Beautiful waterfalls coming off of the ridge south of the trail.
Trail is snow free with 6 short snow patches on switchbacks that all have a bare path along them at least a foot wide, melting fast and leaking onto the trail. Trail is in great condition with many water sources the entire length.
Timed entry system has eliminated the long midday lines at the entrance. We arrived 10:45 with 9 to 11 entry reservation and only had 4 cars in line. There were cars in pullouts between highway and the entrance, I assume waiting for start of 11-1 entry window.
