What an epic hike! The views at the top are stunning, but you definitely earn it. While the trail averages about 1,000' per mile, there are stretches of much steeper trail. For instance the first mile gains about 500' while the next .3 miles also gains 500'.
Opted to ascend via the boulder scramble due to previous TR's about snow crossings. This is doable with some exposure, and saw a big marmot sunning on a rock. After chatting with some people at the summit opted for the standard trail, as the snow crossings are very mild and was fine just in hiking boots.
Bugs were pretty bad, particularly above tree line, although didn't seem to be biting too much. Wildflowers are blooming throughout, although seem to be affected from last week's heat. Overall the trail is in great shape - alternates between steep rocky sections and well graded dirt, but nothing unmanageable.
