The trail leading up to Kendall Peak was steep, challenging, and very hot with near-total exposure. Poles are almost universally required over loose gravel and large erratic boulders you must navigate either around or over while following the extremely steep ascent and descent to the peak, but the views from the summit were spectacular! Mt Rainier dominates the view. My companion and I were disappointed not to be able to sign the trail register, which had expanded and stuck shut in the high midday heat.
