A nice hike that gives you some amazing views of Mt. Rainier. We hiked with kids and two dogs. Not too strenuous - but there isn't a lot of shade (much of the area burned in a fire a few years ago.) Very exposed, and even though the temperature wasn't bad the sun was kinda brutal. LOTS of wildflowers and butterflies. There were two other cars in the parking lot and we never saw another person (on a Saturday afternoon!)
If you want to do this hike, know that the road off 410 is not paved, and I would strongly recommend having 4wd and someone who is comfortable doing some white knuckle driving. It gets steep, narrow, and has lots of switchbacks.
