Big thanks to the trail crews who recently cleared the Huckleberry Creek trail. There is a lot of evidence of recent trail work including a couple of huge blowdowns. One large-ish blowdown remains near the 5 mile mark but it can be climbed over without much difficulty.
This is a great choice for a hot day or if you just want some solitude in beautiful old growth forest. There's a nice waterfall at around the 6.75 mile mark. It's funny to hike 9 miles with very few people in sight and finally pop out on the ridge above the Sunrise visitor's center. Sunrise the long way.
The road is OK in parts and has some large potholes in parts.
