Mount Rainier Area > NW - Carbon River/Mowich

Came here in the middle of the week and arrived just after noon. The dirt/gravel road is a passable with any vehicle with just a few potholes. The actual parking lot and the parking along the road was about 80% full. If you are looking at the map, you'll notice the pin is on the west side of Mowich Lake. From that spot all the way down south to the Mowich Lake Campground is parking on the side of the road closest to the lake. At the campground there is parking available on both sides of the road. There is surprisingly a lot of spots available here for how far you have to travel on a dirt road but like others have mentioned, I have to agree that the reservations to the other entrances to Mt Rainier are pushing people to this spot. Depending on where you actually park can easily add another mile on the roundtrip which I'm guessing is the reason the mileage is different on different websites. It's a pretty straightforward trail but it is busy. Didn't get a clear view of Rainier with the clouds just sitting in the way but still a nice view. I would recommend you use plenty of bug spray before hiking up since they were annoying.

This is the sign from the Mowich Lake Campground.
