Home Lake, Marmot Pass — Saturday, Jul. 27, 2024

Trail is in good condition. Plenty of wildflowers still. Huckleberries and salmonberries are ripe.  Bring bug spray.

I was just here a week ago, but I came back again so I could show it to my teenage son because it’s such a nice place. We went on a weekend, so there were definitely more people, but it wasn’t feeling crowded.

Day 1: Upper Big Quilcene to Boulder Shelter
Day 2: left our packs at Boulder Shelter and did a day trip to Home Lake and back
Day 3: Boulder Shelter back to Quilcene TH

We saw an adult rabbit, a baby bunny, a frog, fish in the lake, and marmots. We saw a lot of deer prints, but no deer. The views were spectacular and the weather was beautiful.
