Flowing water everywhere in this Alpine Lakes wonderland, beginning in all the drainages flowing into Wildhorse creek, which led to some very muddy crossings. Several sections of the trail are very overgrown and need a proper haircut, but these sections were never long or unmanageable. A long grind through the forest up to a mile before Frosty pass, where views opened up to Mt. Daniel and peaks to the south and Bull's tooth to the west. We ended up staying at Lake Mary but if you had the energy I would push further to Lake Florence with better campsites and a stunning alpine setting. There are a couple of nice sites on the granite benches above Lake Mary, which we did not see until after we set camp--a lovely perch but a bit of a walk to water. Camping at Lake Grace would also be a fine option. Roaming the high country along Icicle Ridge Trail is pure joy.

Thanks for the TR! Did you take the White Pine Creek trail west past the junction with Frosty Wildhorse? If so, how was it?

We did not go west to White Pine creek as we were heading to Frosty pass. I have read it is pretty overgrown!
