I went to Lake spectacle over a weekend.
Friday night: campled at Owhi camping grounds at lake cooper. Morning starting hiking via the Pete Lake trail. Reached pete lake after a 2 hours trek. Continued to lake spectacle. You go up a mountain for like 1500 feet and then climb down into the lake for 0.4 mile. the way down is steep - with 2-3 instances where you just walk down a rock. Not dangerous but you might need to use your hands also. The lake was magical. The water was warm - so everyone who reached there had a dip in the lake. The lake has a unique formation - it has a rocky extension well into the lake which cuts the lake into a 10% and 90%. This 10% becomes very cosy and safe that you can enter into. The tents are put in this part of the rock & ground which extends into the lake. Lots of blueberries - the tastiest of them. I think most i USA do not seem to have the berry collection culture like in the nordics or europe.
The night of saturday was stormy. That was the case everywhere in seattle. The morning was as if nothing had happened over the night.
Precautions:
1) No network on mobile about 20 miles before the Pete lake trailhead. So dont forget to get offline maps.
2) Water is available on the way. So all you need is a filter.
3) The bugs are much less than i expected - still you will need the bug sprays
4) There were people on the weekend too, but not too crowded
So have a great time!!
