After a landslide wiped out a long segment of the original CCC built trail some 10 years ago, a WTA crew came in and roughed out a half mile reroute to take the trail up to a Forest Service logging road which allowed for further rambling up towards Buck Mountain. The roughed in rerouted upper half mile of the trail has remained in use since then with little maintenance. Finally a WTA crew was organized to come in and spent four days providing some TLC to the roughed in reroute. We concentrated on improving the tread and doing select realignments to make this strenuous hike a little less strenuous. More work remains to be done in the future but the trail is definitely in better shape now.
