Mount Rainier Area > NE - Sunrise/White River
Glacier Basin trail

Our group of four scored an early entry ticket into the Sunrise Corridor and then easily found a campsite at White River. Spirits were high! After setting up camp we headed out on the Glacier Basin trail. The entire trail is in beautiful shape, although dusty from the dry summer days. The asters, arnica and paintbrush added color to all the green! It took us just a few hours to reach the wilderness camp of 6 sites and walk beyond it to enjoy lunch with views of the Inter Glacier and meadow below Burroughs. The wilderness toilet is quite a walk from the trail but has amazing views!

On the descent, we took a side trip on the Emmons Moraine trail to see the gorgeous no-name glacial lake just across the river. It was a beautiful day!
