Beginner hiker here, just moved to Washington a few weeks ago. The road to the trailhead was a little rough and quite bumpy, we were going around 20-25 mph for most of it while avoiding large potholes/dips/large stones. We got there around noon and took around 4 hours round trip. A lot of other hikers were also on the trail, presumably enjoying the Labor Day weekend as well.
Did not get bitten at all by any bugs, which was surprising since I typically always get eaten alive. The elevation climb was no joke, and definitely left me breathing quite heavily. However, the views at the lookout are gorgeous and definitely worth it.
We did encounter two pairs of discarded shorts and underwear that somebody presumably soiled, which is unfortunate. However, even more unfortunate was just leaving them on the trail as trash.
Overall, this hike was pretty great and the views were incredible.
