The forest service road to the Mt Townsend upper trailhead is mostly paved and in pretty good shape. The trailhead has a vault toilet.
Any wild water on the way up has pretty much dried so if you were hoping to fill up using a filter along the way it would be very challenging.
Our party (a group of generally active folks that hike a couple times a month) took approximately 5 hours to complete the hike, which included time spent eating lunch at the summit.
