Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - East
Josephine Lake by Kayla Heffner

Fantastic day for a hike. The weather was cooler and a little bit cloudy but that didn’t stop the fantastic views in the fall foliage that is just starting to turn. Also a fun hike for those winter weather enthusiast who visits Stevens pass and can identify the runs that they go down in the winter. The trail itself I wouldn’t say is hard. It’s just a saddle. You hike up you go down you hike up you go down, I felt like the hike there to the lake was harder than the hike back. Although you do gain some serious elevation coming back out of the Josephine lake basin. it was a little breezy and cold at the lake so we didn’t stay too long, but there are some nice camp spots, a privy and day sites at the lake. The smaller lake, Susan Jane Lake was also really nice and we saw some PCT hikers hanging out there for a lunch break. Also met quite a few other hikers along the way as well and wish them luck on their journey as they complete it nearing Canada.
we saw lots of pika and chipmunks in the Telus slopes. And saw some fresh bars Kat along the trail just after Susan Jane lake. We were hiking with our dog and he was wearing our Bear bell which was definitely nice to have just in case as well as letting hikers know that we were coming too so we didn’t scare them.
