Central Cascades > Leavenworth Area
Fall color along Icicle Creek

This is a beautiful and easy hike where there were a number of people, children, and dogs on the trail. The vine maples were in lovely color and Icicle Creek and the surrounding hills are gorgeous. It was good to be among the orange-barked Ponderosa Pines, something I don’t have around home. There were mushrooms in the forest after recent rains and I did see a few larches, but none of them in great display or in full golden splendor yet.

The parking lot had ample room in the vault toilet was in great shape. I had planned to do a longer and more difficult hike on this day, but after poor sleep and an uncomfortable mattress, I am glad I settled on this very enjoyable hike.

The road was in pretty good shape, though there were a few places where sedan would want to take it slowly.
