Lake Valhalla — Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024

It was cloudy and there was a wet mist in the air from the Smithbrook TH all the way to Lake Valhalla. Parking was not a problem at 10AM. The trail was in good shape, and the understory vegetation lining it was in full fall color against the evergreens and the gray skies . We had lunch at the sandy beach on the lake, but the weather dissuaded one of our party from a planned swim. The entire trip was a leisurely 4.5 hours. We will do this again on a sunnier day (got to get that swim in), but it was a fine hike today as well.
