Arrived at the Rachel Lake trailhead at 7:45am on Saturday. Much less vehicles in the parking lot then expected. Bathrooms were open, but no toilet paper. Started around 8:15am, and made it to Rachel Lake around 10:15am. Then headed up to Lila Lake, and Alta Mountain. Only a handful of people up on Alta.

Hmmm, snow free on October 12. I wonder what it looks like 2.5 weeks later. Back in 2018, mid-October, two hikes eight days apart resulted in one with a light dusting on Alta (stunningly pretty), and the other with a foot of new powder at the top of Hibox. That was dicey.
Sigh...only one way to find out, I guess.;-)
