The term "larch madness" is not an exaggeration. We arrived before 7am and still didn't have parking at the trailhead parking. Cars were already starting to line highway 20.
We did the counter-clockwise route. It was a bit of challenging route for my less-active 12 year old, but it was beautiful and while it was crowded we didn't ever really feel overwhelmed by it. The crowd thinned out when we passed the two-mile mark (or so). Did the detour to Lake Ann and while it as pretty, my kid was less than impressed, haha.
Great hike, larches were poppin'. Highly recommend a weekday.
