Trip Report

West Tiger 1, West Tiger 2 & West Tiger 3 — Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024

Issaquah Alps > Tiger Mountain
map of my route

Arrived at high point trailhead at 12:45 on a wednesday. Parking lot was about 1/4 full.

I did an 8.3 mile, 3100 ft elevation gain loop. Started east on TMT, then took cable line trail to the summit of west tiger 3. Then headed to west tiger 2, then over to west tiger 1. Then I made my way down by going on preston trail down to TMT, then over to the west tiger RR trail via the K-3 trail and continued till I hit the section line trail. Then took that down to talus rocks trail and then down the nook trail. See map I attached.

Passed about 10 people all day, including a work party. One dog (off leash) and one person blasting music.

Some notes:

  • Cable line trail - pretty steep, not that pretty. The trail surface is a mixture of dirt, gravel, and rock and can be slick at times in the wet. The gravel is also loose in places which is not so fun. Overall, this one is good if you just are looking for a steep trail for training purposes.
  • Section line trail - I did the unmaintained portion between west tiger RR grade and talus rocks trail. It was fine, although steep enough that I had to be careful with my footing going down and go slowly in places. I would much prefer to go up this trail than down it.
