I have a spicy cattle dog who doesn’t love running into other dogs but loves to hike. The state parks are usually laid out with lots of space which is much more relaxing for both of us. This one is no exception. We put in about 5 miles between the north entrance and the south entrance. The north entrance has the lake loop. It is beautifully maintained. There are several places to get right down to the water. There is one big hill in that loop that might scare some off but it’s not bad and the rest is flat. The bathrooms are the cleanest I’ve ever seen in a state park. I did notice the water was off at one of the outside spigots. The south side has a great trail down entry at the boat launch and down the lake. We followed that to the end and then tromped around the field on the other side of the road. We got about 5 miles between the two. We saw 5 people all day and it was worth the drive for peace and quiet. Leaves are peaking so get there fast if that’s your fancy.
