Trip Report

Kendall Peak Lakes Snowshoe — Monday, Dec. 9, 2024

Snoqualmie Region > Snoqualmie Pass
trail to Kendall overlook in snow

We did eight mile hike to viewpoint from 4400 ft level along old road 9090 out of Gold Creek North parking area.Question was whether to wear snowshoes.  We decided to forego them and just use spikes.  Old roadbed very beat up and icy for first two miles so spikes were useful.  We did see some snowshoers but other people who decided to take them off and carry them.  However, where old road gives way to a real trail, the snow depth gets much more and while snowshoes would be good to the overlook area, we managed it in spikes because trail was booted out pretty well. We did post-hole a few times and coming back down was slippery.
