Trip Report

Little Mountain Park - Bonnie and Clyde Loop — Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024

Puget Sound and Islands > Bellingham Area
The Pickering Viewpoint, facing northwest.

The parking area off of Little Mountain Road only had a few cars in it when I arrived around 9 AM. The privies at the parking area are in decent shape. Full disclosure: this report does not follow the Bonnie and Clyde Loop as described. I hiked a loop that included part of the Bonnie and Clyde Trail and the other WTA guides do not include any of the trails I hiked today.

My outbound route from the parking area was as follows: Hop Connector-->La-Z-Boy-->Cairn Trail-->Sidekick-->Nature Trail-->Cairn Trail--La-Z-Boy--Lower Surfer's Way-->Down South-->Taylor's Trail. From this point, my inbound route was West Loop Trail-->Bonnie and Clyde's Trail-->Sidewinder-->North Viewpoint Trail-->Ridge Trail-->Mossy Rock Trail-->Upper Surfer's Way-->Rooty Trail-->Hop Connector to the parking area. I stopped at the North Viewpoint and the Pickering Viewpoint for lunch and some pictures. Strava measured this route to be about 8.2 miles.

The trails I hiked are in pretty good shape all things considered. There is some mud and water on the trail in spots. There are no trees down over any trails that I hiked, though I did see some that were freshly cut, so thank you to whomever did that. There were lots of people out hiking and riding the trails today.

The Down South trail.
A somewhat sketchy situation hanging over the Down South trail.
