This short hike must have one of the best view/effort ratios in this area.
The moss-covered forest through which the hike leads is typical Middle Fork magic: worth the effort by itself IMHO. The views from both the balcony and the 2nd viewpoint are simply spectacular - a fresh snow dusting on the surrounding mountains added extra effect.
The trail is short, easy to follow and easy to do for most hikers (the branch to the right, along the climbing area is much nicer with no trees down). The trail was wet in many places (creek running down trail) but never deeper than 1”. A few muddy spots.
2.8 miles x ~625’ according to gaiagps on my phone.
Parking was not busy (3 of ~8 spots at upper CCC trailhead taken).
