Beautiful snow, thoroughly packed down, snowshoes unnecessary. We used spikes. It's always a beautiful hike! The trail was almost empty when we got there at 8:30am, easy parking. When we finished around 11:30, cars were parked all along the street from the I-90 exit well past the Gold Creek trailhead, several reducing the road to a single lane. And two cars were trying to drive up the unplowed road! Some pretty crazy New Year's Day antics!
