Waking up to rain, I was glad I took advantage of the brief weather window and walked this last night.
33 bus leaves Elliott and Proctor (east side) bound for Discovery Park north parking lot. The only other passenger got off where I boarded - the stops ticked by so fast the announcer lady could barely keep up.
When we got to Texas Ave, the bus driver asked me if I was going to the Park, I answered yes and we continued. At the last stop I told the bus driver of my plan and he bid me farewell.
Made my way through the Park to North Beach, and along the water all the way to Elliott Bay Marina. No rain, no wind, great views of multi-million dollar mansions, and across the water. You could see the lights of the populated spots reflecting off the clouds. Tide was good again, low is 50ish minutes later every day. This stretch of waterfront is more sand and less rock, mostly easy stroll. USGS map
Back at the bus stop, my transfer had expired, but it was still free since the bill acceptor was broken, and the driver wouldn't take it. Then short 1/4 mile walk home.
I have a hard time justifying a drive out to the woods this time of year, with the short days and limited snow-free options. Before we know it the days will be longer and Spring will be upon us. Speaking of: have you got any obscure hikes planned for this upcoming season?
I want to do Barney Zell Ridge, Barney was a trapper in Stehekin in the early 1900's. Another is camp at the pass in Majestic Mountain and locate trail I know is there down to Azurite Mine. Clean up the trail to McCall Mountain. To name a few... you?
