Like the previous trip report stated, the last half mile of the FR to the trailhead is packed snow and slush, making it hard for two wheel drive vehicles. There was a Lexus stuck in the middle for a little bit blocking traffic, so please be mindful of your vehicle's limitations.
The trail starts out sloshy and muddy but quickly turns to intermittent snow. About a mile or so in, you'll find full snow coverage with a well packed boot trail. I went up to Ollallie Lake carrying spikes and snowshoes and didn't require either of those. Plenty of dropping snow bombs to keep you wet. A lot of people at the lake by 11:30, and there was a light snow flurry to make things extra beautiful. Have fun, be safe and pack for winter hiking!
